Defender 5.2 Overview

Defender offers the essential security you need to conduct your e-business with confidence, safe in the knowledge that your critical digital assets, customers and employees are protected by reliable, future-proof software, and that your investment is equally well protected by a technology partner with a sound background and commitment to your future technology needs.

The Password Problem

The password problem is not a new one. Using traditional static user IDs and passwords for authentication has the following disadvantages:

  • they are easily guessed, shared or cracked by others
  • users forced to regularly change their passwords will often select passwords that are easily guessed and compromised
  • users with too many passwords to remember will write them down and make them even more vulnerable to compromise

The Defender Solution

PassGo’s Defender solves this dilemma by providing two-factor authentication which uniquely authenticates users without forcing them to remember another new password. For enterprises needing highly scalable user authentication either internally or in dial-up, VPN, firewalls, or other remote access environments supporting RADIUS®, Defender provides a standards-based, strong two-factor authentication security solution using vendor-independent hardware and software tokens.

Tactical or Strategic?

Quite simply, the role of security is no longer just about mitigating risk and compliance with regulation and legislation, it’s also about working to achieve key business objectives; objectives which are important to any business, such as revenue generation and cost reduction.

e-security delivers the tools that enable businesses to empower their staff, customers and partners, giving them the confidence to provide applications, facilities and infrastructure that at one time would have been the reserve of strictly office based staff.

It’s all about information delivery irrespective of location. Delivering real value and contributing to the overall success of the business by enabling key applications and opening up new business opportunities which can tangibly affect the bottom line.

With the advent of these open and flexible business approaches comes a significantly increased potential vulnerability. This is the niche of the e-security market; to mitigate the perceived risk and ensure that strategic business development is not hindered by this increased potential vulnerability.

Authentication Infrastructure

The field of e-security technology is developing faster than business can accommodate. Any investment sanctioned within the e-security arena must be made on the basis that it represents a long term strategy for the organization. Defender represents just such an investment.
